If downloading movies is so illegal then how are the sites still up and running?

 

It is illegal in some countries but not all. You can use an offshore hosting where there is no rule about it and host whatever you want.

 

Because people who run these websites are located in different countries.. Its difficult to track them... i guess so..

 

As i know downloading movies in Balcan (Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro...) is legal

 

The Internet is divided into different parts on this issue. China is a different place all togther, they generate and promote some of this work.

There was a recent ruling by a judge in Spain that has left the doors open here for downloading.
I believe one of the big music industry players tried taking one website owner to court.
The website listed the locations of files to download and from my own understanding of the case, the judge said that that site operated no differently to any search engine displaying search results.
At the same time, since the website owner was not out for profit, he was allowed to carry on.
Then it just got better. The same rule then got applied to those downloading films and music. If they were or personal use and not gain from cash reward, it was OK.
Things could all change again at a later date if another case happens and another judge makes a new ruling.
But for us living in Spain at present, its good.

 

Downloading movies are legal but only for good rated and authenticated website which search engine allows.

moviewatchlist and zml are an example of these type of websites.

Hey Shinok, I think it may be a legal website because it provides quality downloads with efficient spend and required safety. I’ve downloaded more than 150 movies from here and trust me, never faced any troubles with the downloaded stuff.

It's all going to be copyright protracted in near future, apart from the few independent movie makers.

Where I live there are no laws that forbid downloading of mp3's or movies from torrents or other sites.
In my opinion, download a movie, and if you really like it, buy the original and support the artists
I think that only USA and UK are strict with copyright laws, all other countries make a blind eye when it comes to that issue.

 

The sites that give away free our counterfit movies are not helping any one. they by pass the system. the artists and techinican or studio don't get any money from this.

 

because some host and countries allow that.. and movie studio;s sometimes have to deal with bigger issues than with a simple site that is inactive by far for example... just my 2 cents
