If Content is King, What is Queen?

Content is NOT king!

You can't fill your site with meaningless crap, just because you need "content". You can't have just any content. So content is not king. You have to have content that is useful, helpful, insightful and/or original - otherwise why bother?

High quality content is King.

The Queen would be links. Back in the 'good ol days' before search engines, the way people found your site was from links from other sites. Essentially search engines are aggregates of links (links to pages for what they believe you are looking for). This is foundational to how the Internet (and search engines) work. It's a solid foundation that won't go away (until the technology of the Internet as we know it today completely changes.)

So when you have great content, you will must have lots of links.... ...and, when you have great content, it makes getting links so much easier.
