I made a research of backlinks to a top5 site into a nice of languages and saw that is full of brought backlinks so I wonder if this is illegal to do why google allow this sites appear within the top5 results. Please let me know if I am wrong so I can start to invest in backlinks.

    Regards,

Nobody know if you are buying link unless you tell them
Google cant simply say that you are buying link, what they can do is penalize those site with tons of spam/crap link

Buying links is not illegal, it's just that it's not as effective or as reliable a before, like automated link building. You can buy links if you want to, but make sure you keep on building links manually/naturally just in case there's another algorithm change.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

It may be that Google doesn't know........ and Google is a system not a human, it is impossible to check millions of website manually.

True you should be ok as long as Google does not find out. Sites where you can buy and sell websites do not allow buyers to see the url so this also prevents Google from penalizing your site.

It can be illegal sometimes with excess use of it.like others said a lot of crapy links could lead to Google penalizing your site if they discover you

If you keep your backlinging purchases low, but steady over time, you might avoid penalization. But be natural, and contextual, it'll get you the best PR love from Google and the likes of them.

Oh yes, Google can tell if you are buying links. They have lists of directories and have blacklists with site neighborhoods know to buy/sell links. If you get links from them or even if you point to them, there is a risk of penalty!

So Google is sophisticated to tell whether some links are bought or not...

    Except:
if you buy links in-context, embedded links within articles. Or if you buy reference links, etc.

Buying a few directory links should not be a major problem. However, strive getting as many and as diverse and as high quality as possible article/editorial links.

Not true. First at all, i dont advise to buy link through those link trading site, i can say more than 90% are crap. If you want to buy link, go direct to the site owner, that's a deal between 2 of you, no one will know about it.
Second, i strongly not agree that site get penalized due to bad link point to your site, if this case is true, people can simply make a bad site and point to their competitor. That's all about the percentage of the quality site. You will get penalized only if your bad link is over certain percentage.

what is the different between link, in-context link, embedded link or reference link when you buy link? or you are trying to say it is fine to buy in-text link but the site link? If i'm not mistaken, google saying that all the link involved money considered as illegal

I agree this statement, quality of the backlink is the major factor.

Google can tell if a link is natural or not, and while they can never say outright that you bought this link and that, they can penalize you for having unnatural links on your site and for having unnatural links pointing to your site.

If you want to buy links then that's fine, but I strongly suggest you do not reply too much on this. Build links manually too.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

well, it's really hard to tell if one link is paid or not. but we could also check the site it is posted if you could see many links. then there's a high chance it's a paid link.

it's not illegal- google is not the government-

Buying links is a good way to influence ranking. Only buy pr 4+ and only on a very related site. and do not buy in bulk, slowly build over months.
