Because the forums and the site are separate. No cross promoting. The way I found DP forums, is through google search/yahoo search. Not main site. And when I DO use the main site, it doesn't take me to the forums. As a user, it confuses me.
yeah I know, but come to think of it....it should have been very high. The forum as well as the main site are both PR4 with almost 9++ backlinks. hmmm....
Yeah that's really true every time i open DP I can see 200+ online visitors, but it still strange that its PR is very less
I really don't care what PR DP has. It is very well placed in SERP. I have landed on DP several times while searching in google for various content. As long as there is a good position in SERP, I am happy.
Maybe a arger percentage of the backlinks are n/a! Also i have spread the word about DP a lot so traffic could come from that also!
because PR has much more to do with than just backlinks. Not sure on how DP is structured, but a popular site with a high number of backlinks can also mean that PR is flowing out of the site.
PR has no connection with traffic as it has been observed that many blogs/sites with no traffic still manages very good PR while a forum like 'DP' with excellent traffic stats is still 'PR4'! PR depends a whole lot on backlinks from higher PR sites and it could be just incidental that DP is not getting its backlinks... from very high PR sites! Regards, RightMan
forums.digitalpoint.com used to be PR 6. www.digitalpoint.com used to be PR 7. This was 2 years ago. Then, Google dropped it to PR 4. I don't know why. Maybe a penalty.
Backlinks are simply one variable in the PR algorithm. I am confused too why it is only pr4 though seems like it would be higher -- although google did just recently change the PR formula.
