    Hi all,

I am wondering if a pirated DVD website doesnt open to public, which means this website requires user to login before they can actually view the content of the website, does any related copyright organisation have the right to shut down the website?

See, it is considered as a private website that only authorised users to login and see the DVDs titles. So it isnt publish to the public. In this case, is the website running in safe position?

    Thanks for the information.

If you don't have the rights to the media the site is spreading (and obviously you don't) then it's illegal and you are definitely liable to be sued.

Yup it can get shut down if revealed to public. Unless probably you only market word of mouth.

What if the website only display movie poster with description? It doesnt have any price, or it doesnt make any payment at all. Just for viewing only.

Will it be shut down as well?

I see. However, when you go to this website, the homepage is only a login page. So do you consider it as revealing to public? However, there is no payment involved in the website. It is just for viewing. Is it still against law?

Ya, marketing to those customers only.

copyright law is pretty clear about unauthorized use. you are in doubt yourself and for good reason. put your energy into a project that has a long lifespan ahead of it. there is already enough risk in business without crossing the line.

Piracy is illegal. It's illegal whether the site is private or not.

You can still get shut down mate, even if you are guarded with a register system. A lot of Warez forums do exactly the same thing as which you are talking about and they can still get into serious trouble.

The best thing you should do is with your website make sure you get offshore hosting and keep your internet tracks hidden, for example make a new unverified PayPal for any small payments. Use a different ip when working on your website or uploading any illegal content. That way if they do not find out who you are, you cannot be prosecuted :p.
