It totally depends on person standing in front of you. You cant deal in the same way to everyone. Once I pretended that i wasn't able to hear what she said while talking to her on phone but now after having a cute girl fren I simply say sorry its not possible for me because i am committed towards someone else.

Doest this obviously depend on whether the boy loves the girl back. Surely this answers a pretty easy question.
