Depends. If it was just a random that came up to me on the street and said "I love you" I would be like kthx and walk off. If it was someone I'm going out with, I would *probably* say it back [unless i was bout to walk away ]

Why is so hard for some people to say that word? I can tell any girl "I love you" just pretend you mean it.

You are the only one that will know if she really loves you, or just playing or pretending she does. If she indeed really loves you... Do not feel obligated to say the same if you don't mean it. Respect it and go on. Well that's my 2c
If a girls says I love you then most of the boys will say i love you too and then have some fun then probably leave her. I can do the same but I think I would rather get to know the girl first and then make my decision on how she is.
