Microsoft announced on Wednesday, that VP8 video code, developed by On2 Technologies company is planned to added in IE9.
Not quite. You must install the VP8 codec on Windows and it's not natively supported. iow, it seems it will work like a plugin. In addition, Dean said there are a number of "technical obstacles" Microsoft must overcome to do this which makes me wonder if this is more marketing gesture than reality. Being a plugin, I question the functionality of it with regard to the other more modern browsers. Speaking of which. While IE9 won't come out till the end of next year, Firefox, Chrome and Opera will all support this some time in the coming few months. This proves my point that IE will always be years behind all other browsers, holds back the web and no one in their right mind should use it.
