Um, Microsoft can't recover something it's never had. Non-MS servers cover about 77% of the internet according to NetCraft.
I agree 100% with your post. We have to remember that the internet is always changing (so is HTML) and sometimes people cannot or do not have the time to update the codes of their sites. I agree with you on that. Microsoft won by bundling IE with Windows. Really i don't care what people say its perfect legal. They make the software. If you dont want to use Windows go buy Mac or Linux (good luck with those options)
And now you point out the problem. You can't always do that. If you MUST buy Microsoft to run certain software or go to certain web sites due to a proprietary method, then you have a monopoly and THAT is what has been determined to be illegal. (US Justice Department law suit, also one by several US states and, recently, the EU in Europe's $1.35 Billion dollar fine).
Good luck with those options? I don't need luck. Of the 10 systems I own/manage for personal and business use, only one is Windows, on an old box running XP so I can test my web sites in IE. Everything else is FreeBSD. Anything you can do, I can do; often better.
Dead last. I'll have to find the stats. 1) RedHat I think. 2) FreeBSD 7.0 3) FreeBSD 6.3 4) Solaris? 5)....don't recall. I'll have to find the link from the research company. You're lack of knowledge is showing again. In fact, Windows server cannot survive the test and breaks down after a certain number of connections while none of the other OSes do.
You know that everyone can have a subjective opinion about any product they use. If you use FreeBSD, it doesn't mean that it's the best OS ever. The same with Windows users, Linux users, IE users, FF users, and so on. All those are just tools - the right tool for the right job. I worked with all those enumerated earlyer, and I'm more pleased with Windows/IE. After I tested them all. I don't see what's the problem with my opinion or where the "lack of knowlegde" is obvious.
I don't have opinion. I have fact. My decisions and choices are based on facts, numbers and experience. Outside sources guide and help but it boils down to real data and the real data shows Windows Server is NOT as you say which makes me question your comments you made above, including comments about the other tools.
Just think about the fact that I've been a Linux sysadmin for 2 years, and I switched to Windows. Can you figure it out why? Also, I was working with Linux from 1999 to 2007. Stopped because I had my reasons, which may not be the same as your reasons to stay on Linux/BSD.
Because you changed jobs? My first experience with Unix was in 1985 when I went to work as a systems engineer for Pixar, and then Silicon Graphics. Windows is the family van. Unix/Linux are the Mac trucks of the industry. If you need the heavy lifting, you know what to use.
Thanks lol. You are quite delusional if you believe that a crappy OS can beat an OS that took years to make. Its like saying Ubantu is more advanced than Windows or Mac. Advanced does not mean it takes years to know how to use it. It means it has powerful features that are easy to learn. The days of computers requiring Einstein like minds to operate is over. Get used to it. Hey those software companies choose to run on the best system Dont blame them Plus do you really think Microsoft is sweating their little 1.35 billion dollar fine? Its like Google sweating that ask.com will beat them. (Which BTW has decided to market its ideas to women more than men...good luck with that).
what about the speed of IE8? i have not seen much that mentions the speed except one sentence. do we exepect IE8 to be faster and on par with Sarari (blah!) and FF 3?
Even IE 7 is faster than FF. And I see that many FF users agree with that, FF has a lot of work to do when it comes to memory usage.
IE has never been concerned with speed. As Yankee said it is FF. Ask any FF fan. Concerning Safari it does seem to be faster than IE but that is only because it is not a good stand alone browser unlike IE that works great on any platform. Very true.
