You should upgrade Firefox to the latest version. Firefox 1.0 was a long time ago... Download Firefox 2.0 or try the alpha (it's quite stable, trust me) of Firefox 3.0 available here : http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ Oh, you may also want to stop using video codec packs like Ace Mega Codecs Pack that make a mess of your codecs in the computer..
I will try to upgrade. I tried your link for 3.0 and it doesn't 'install' so it is now gone after cleaning my temp folder. I don't think I have any codec packs on firefox. I haven't downloaded anything. P.S. installed it ... the name minefield is a bit nerve racking though...
Well, they do have weird names for their builds.. FF 2.0 had the code name "Deer Park". It is very stable though and I love the daily updates.
I see your point but I'm not gonna mess about with it to try and get it to work if i can use something else. Can you see where i am coming from?
This is perfectly reasonable. I only took issue with saying that IE7 sucks because it keeps crashing on your computer. You'll notice I have taken the same issue with those who claims Firefox sucks because it keeps crashing on their computer. Saying IE or Firefox crashes frequently on your computer would be fair. Saying they suck because of this is not fair especially if no effort was made to see if it was really a problem with IE/Firefox or something causing problems at a lower level (e.g. video drivers, plug-ins, codex, etc.).
I prefer Opera mainly because it is stable and my Logitech MX laser mouse has a forward and back button that I find useful to surf the pages. This used to work in FF, but it still does in IE and Opera.
Have both IE6 and FF1.5 installed. Both good browsers . Heard IE7 has a lot of improvements although haven't tried it yet.
I don't think anyone honestly calls IE6 a good browser (especially now that IE7 is out) It is six year old technology and has become a serious hinderence to web developers who want to fully utilize all of the features and ability of current web standards. IE6 should have been replace several years ago with an updated version. IE7 does have some very fundamental improvements in regards to supporting web standards. It also implements some key features that have been a part of Opera and Firefox for years. There's an informative and useful statement.
