i think the ie7 thing is just a bug
what i would be worried about is fire fox with the ad blocker extension.

everyone screams and shouts about firefox and how great it is. we will see what theyre screaming and shouting about if 75% of surfers are using FF with ad blocker.

IE 7 uis still beta. maybe they will fix it before public release (or at least we hope).

as for FF, i am with ly2. why is google promoting a browser that is blocking its ads?

the firefox i downloaded came pre-packaged with adblocker.... everyone that downloads firefox from today on will not see adsense ads. if you d/l firefox a while ago you may still see them. But not all the new people :(

this will hurt adsense tremendously. or completely wipe it out!

    it's possible.

this happened to me last time; couldn't see ads in firefox or IE. d/l Opera and tried viewing with that but i don't see the ads too. then i emailed G and told them. they replied that "i reviewed your site and the ads are appearing fine".

when i formatted my PC, everything was ok again. just thought this might be relevant.

    figured it out!

    my host file got changed.

i downloaded an updated HOSTS file a couple weeks ago. i didnt notice these lines :)

sorry for screaming "sky is falling" for you guys.

however this shows me how IE7 probably blocks Adsense. Its very simple to block, unless google changes all the domain names of their services (though MS can simply add more to the hosts file). seeing that nearly all of the Internet users use IE, once IE7 goes mainstream we might be screwed. time to diversify

Some people are moving out of Adsense and into YPN or other services. Adsense seems to have lost its buzz. It was huge last year though. Now people seem to be getting adsense fatigue.

i think people has gone too far with Adsense, so many websites are made just for ads, thats why i understand people using Adblocker and i somehow support them. i love Tivo, etc i hate so much publicity, some is okay but lately u cant surf the net without being bombarded by ads.

It won't surprise me if they destroy adsense. Why allow people to make residual income from their websites?

Just another way to destroy the income of us webmasters.

Its posts like that which piss me off. You don't seem to have a problem with big fortune 500 companies like Microsoft dominating everything, but you jump for joy the moment something happens which destroys the income of small business people.

That makes a lot of sense. The big corps can't have the little people making money off something other than a 9 to 5 job. Lets get rid of adsense so we can put the little people out of business and continue the trend of the rich getting richer, and the making it impossibe for anyone to build a business from the ground up.

Its people like you that jump for joy when the government pass anti spam laws, yet don't complain when that same government refuses to go after credit card companies and other businesses which continue to solicit people via mail and phone.

Newsflash donwebcorleone: You're bombarded with Ads offline as well. Just walk down the street of anything big city and you can see that!!

The only damn difference between offline and online is you don't have to have 10,000 bucks just to display your damn ad!

if they want to block ads on the damn net, why don't they start by first blocking ads in downtown Manhattan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For you people who earn $$ from Adsense, how about making a petition to MS.

If online ads were blocked everywhere, internet would be like a deserted library. All the services would stop even google.

I don't know what good a petition is going to do. The way I see it, Billy and the boys just want to block google ads on their browsers so they can only show MSN ads.

I personally think the topic of this thread is a pipe dream. How is Google or Microsoft themselves going to make money if they block ads on their own browsers?

At the same time, I know the government and big corps hate to see the little guys making hundreds or thousands per month in residual income, and would jump at a chance to plug the leak.
