Hi all, To my surprise November 1st passed without my computer automatically trying to install IE7. I even tried to update Windows, from my IE(6) browser and got one update they thought was necessary, but no IE7. So I'm wondering what's up. I live in The Netherlands, and use the Dutch language version of software (where available), so that may have something to do with it. Still I'm wondering whether people have seen IE7 being automatically installed on their families computers or their own when they hadn't already installed it for testing purposes?
Yes, IE7 has no been offically released and distributed, most validated XP user will be getting it installed
Hehe. I already have it. i have installed it on my computer a while back. But come on... TAbbed browsing? That is worth a look imho. Rob
tabbed browsing? firefox has had that for ages. Now if it doesn't have a major memory leak with flash files like firefox then maybe it IS worth checking out..
I just loaded up IE6 having just had my lunch was was automatically redirected to a page telling me to update to IE7 - im now updated but the first thing i had to do was disable the new truetype option which pages all text very, very smooth! In my opinion they have changed way too much - although so saying im sure it wont take too long to get used to the changes - i am the sort that doesnt like change, but if it does have to happen i prefer it to be gradual. IE7 is in total over load with new appearance and features - my first initial annoyance is the fact i cant seem to move my URL box, i prefer my menus above my search/url box...
IE7 is ok... I also like Fire Fox a little better seems to be quicker. I run both browsers and offen have them open at the same time. It works great when you need to log into the same site with two sessions opened simultaneously (example online banking) this way you can cut-and-paste between the two browsers without the session ending. Well, it's still not automatically uploading itself for me, even after I start up IE6. Can users from other language-domains tell me if they have been force-fed IE7 yet?
I would say IE7 sucks, I upgraded both firefox 2.0 and IE 7 and you know what few of my application stopped working in IE 7 but they are working fine in firefox 2.0. Don't they just give a compatible browser to end users?
No, they are not. To me it seems that IE7 is more like FF. For example it is more strict about css values.
My understanding was that IE7 was going to start getting pushed out with the monthly automatic updates which happen on the SECOND Tuesday of the month. Since Nov. 1st was the FIRST Tuesday we haven't seen November's updates pushed out yet.
For the record, Opera had tabs first, then FF, now IE7. I'm a FF fan though...don't care too much for Opera.
This is an important fact that is constantly overlooked. For the most part a lot of the really popular things like tabs saving session state, etc. were introduced in Opera first. In fact we have Opera's leaders to thank for CSS as they were the ones who were early promoters of CSS back in the 90's. The sad thing is that in many ways Opera has always been a groundbreaking browser but it has hobbled by the fact that for so many years it either came with a banner ad in the toolbar or had to be registered for a fee. By the time it went ad free, Firefox stole Opera's opportunity to shine. The only reasons Firefox gained so much fame is that it was Open Source so it was just another chapter of the Open Source vs Closed Source debate. It should be noted that Firefox is my primary browser and I only use Opera for testing purposes.
