You are right. IE7 also takes much time to load a page, but the same page is loaded so quickly in firefox.
I never use IE. I got the new version but it's not much better than the old. FireFox is by far the best browser for webmasters. The majority of people do use IE though so always make sure your site looks right in it.
I don't like ie7..Microsoft forced me to upgrade and I have difficulty to find refresh and stop botton! (I got them now but they are too small)
You should be able to UNINSTALL it from ADD/REMOVE (Then you should go back to IE6 if im not mistaken.)
If IE7 would crash as often as FF2 , Microsoft would have had it's offices burned . This post was made using a FF2 , trust me , I know
I agree...IE 7 runs like a pig on my machine. I'm also running the RTM version of Vista Ultimate and havent been all that impressed.
I have a PC crash not long ago and needing a quick restart to finish a pending job I had to install WIN98SE for easiness, it comes with IE5 but I didn't care because what I needed was not related with special features. Surprised to see how that old version is more stable than IE6 AND faster than IE7... of course thousand times faster than the slow FF startup. However it lacks of proper cross browser compliance. I ended up leaving that version in a dual partition while installing the latest Windows OS as default, switiching between each of them according to my requirements. For downloading files IE5 is incredible fast
We've had HORRIBLE issues with IE7. We're close to saying we don't support it as a browser at the software company I work for.
Here, here. I have finally switched to Firefox and never really knew what I was missing. Extensions like an FTP program that runs in your browsers, a free configurable automated form filler, and on and on.
I must agree with the title of this thread. IE7 Sucks!! I downloaded it, installed it, double clicked the icon, then closed it , never to be opened again. It seems so ugly, especially text on websites.
I like Firefox, Stable, secure speedy. My dad got IE 7 installed by windows updater and it decided it would rock if it formatted our Wireless. We were not very impressed. IE 7 was trying to copy every other browser and it failed! What I would like it a 'Make your own browser', then I will have the option not too be slowed down by phishing scanners and I could add more stuff I like!
The only time I use it now is as an extension to run in Firefox just for checking the way the CSS looks in IE for my sites. Will Microsoft ever get CSS right.
I haven't installed IE7 yet..I'm holding off as long as possible. I tried it on one of the computers at school, and I wasn't too impressed with it. I do love Firefox 2!
Couldn't agree more - I'm normally a big MS guy, but IE7 has no advantage over Firefox that I can see. Not to mention it still doesn't comply with the CSS standard. Very disappointing after so many years of waiting.
