With the advancement of the world, more and more countries getting involved... well blah blah, you get the story. Are IDN names, particularly .in's worth anything? There are quite a few one-word .in's available, but they cost more ($13.99 a year I think), so before I go and register them... are .in's worth it?

.IN IDN? Hrm... I doubt it--but that's not the market (IDN.IN) that I got myself involved in. I DID manage to snag some TOP keywords in Hindi (.com/.net)

IDNs are a great investment. Definitely worth something. HUGE news was released yesterday (or I think today??) but a lot are keeping things under sheets. There's a gold rush going on--like the one in the early 90s--and a lot of domainers are asleep (zzZZZZzzzZ).

I'd stick to gTLDs... particularly .com/.net.

How about for example an LLL.in? They are going fast, but can y'all see them becoming as popular as the LLL.com's of today?

Also, anyone know a good site where you can get cheap .in extensions?

IDN's currently are only half IDN and still have a western alphabet .com/.net etc. extension.

ICANN is currently testing a full IDN domain by converting the extension to IDN characters. They are testing with a .test extension where .test is shown in Arabic, Persian, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Russian, Hindi, Greek, Korean, Yiddish, Japanese and Tamil.

This should help the existing 1/2 IDN name as they could now be accessed with a full IDN name in the local language. I am assuming that existing IDN names would work the same and it would not be possible for someone to get & compete with the same full IDN name

Once IDN.IDN is implemented, there are some domains I have that I will NOT let go of for less than $xxx, xxx. These are obviously the ones that are getting great traffic right now. Once IDNs go main stream (likely soon--there has just been a Wallstreet Journal publishing about them), games over for trying to find anymore gems in the sand. If you speak another language, it's worth the investment.

Quick Example: Games in Arabic. In Arabic, it is spelled "العاب" ... the "english" way of saying it: al3ab

    Overture for al3ab: 213

    83135 for العاب

See the difference? People search in their own languages. With IDNs, you are getting HUGE leverage over all those other crappy "al3ab" names. Also, these domains ARE CURRENTLY GETTING TYPE-IN TRAFFIC! That's the point of the game: TYPE-IN! Kind of hard to explain, and it's 2:23AM.

Getting back on topic, I never think LLL.IN will be as valuable as an LLL.com... never. There was a recent purchase of all the LLL.CA. So whoever owns any of those, the value just went up. I only have one LLL.CA... so I guess that will be renewed this year. In terms of ccTLD... I stay away from them. Only ccTLDs that I have that i just absolutely LOVE and know 100% are a GREAT investment are IDN.JP. I own IDNs in Japanese like Cartoons.jp and some other really good ones. Alright, really time for bed. Goodluck! Let me know if anyone needs any help with anything. I'm more than happy to help

*I apologize for the lack of organization in this post, but it really is late and I'd like to go to bed :)
