Hello, I found a great IDN domain, but I have a very newb question: Are they just for .com .net or there can be any .org IDN also? And if they are, what are the registrars? Can a normal domain registrar register a IDN domain name? Thanks
There are specific languages for tlds. Languages Supported com All net All org Danish German Hungarian Icelandic Korean Latvian Lithuanian Polish Spanish Swedish info Danish German Hungarian Icelandic Korean Latvian Lithuanian Polish Spanish Swedish tv All biz Chinese Danish Finnish German Hungarian Icelandic Japanese Korean Latvian Lithuanian Norwegian Polish Portuguese Spanish Swedish ws All cn Chinese cc All You can pretty much register IDNs at any registrar; especially using the punycode.
Neither of the 2 registrars I use for IDNs (GoDaddy & Dynadot) support IDNs for .us. The doesn't necessarily mean their not supported by the registry though. I would check with the .us registry: http://nic.us
.US doesn't support IDNs... but I remember reading an article about IDN consideration in the future... but it makes no sense why they would do that.
