Anyone else have issues when buying domains at sedo? I bought a name (registrar - godaddy) and needed it transferred to namecheap where all of my domains are located. I started the initiation but it failed. I kept advising sedo that the transfer is failing..it looks like they're not clicking the authorization link when I initiate the transfer to namecheap because i'm getting the auth codes to engage the transfer. So after a few denials this idiot at sedo opens a godaddy account for me and transfer the domain from the sellers godaddy account to the new account he created for me and he gives me the info and tells me done. Now I can't transfer this damn domain to namcheap for 60 days! The express written objection may be the result of a pending or recently completed Change of Registered Name Holder. This is an opt-in process during which the new Registered Name Holder agrees not to transfer for 60-days. This domain will be transferrable on 5/15/2009. Now this guy at sedo won't reply to any of my e-mails anymore..prick. I had some plans for this domain and I needed it at namecheap. As least I didn't get scammed or lost the domain but still...what is this bs? Can I pick a different rep the next time I buy another domain?
So how come the SEDO staff had access to the first GoDaddy account and you did not? Aside that, it looks kinda weird, but however when does the domain expire? Do you have enough time to transfer the domain before it expires? (Usually the 60 days period is for transfer of domains that are due to expire within that time period, thats with every registrar).
No idea, I never access to the first account. Sedo sent me the auth codes to initiate the transfer but it kept failing b/c the owner failed to click the transfer approval e-mail from namecheap. I'm not sure what sedo did to get the domain from one godaddy account to another new godaddy account..makes no sence and this guy isn't responding to any of my e-mail anymore. Domain expires in October...I believe the 60 day hold is a normal process when transferring domains from one registrar to another...
Domains at Godaddy are normally only pushed at Godaddy, but its not sedo's fault but Godaddy's. Since every time you change contact info or push a domain, its locked for 60 days from being transferred out of Godaddy. As far as sedo having access to your godaddy account, that is incorrect, they opened a new account and pushed the domain there and sent you the info. I use sedo extensively and have realised its very rarely the reps fault, more likely than not the delay is caused due to the other party in the transaction.
You can still park your domain by setting nameserver right. Agree, Sedo should treat its customer a bit better. Try to complain to Sedo's management. It takes time, about a month, but will help, I hope to improve the quality of the service. In the end of the day, Sedo is the leader. Join it and teach it, if you cannot bit it.
This is not Sedo's fault. When you buy a domain the seller pushes it to Sedo's GoDaddy account first. Therefore the whois info changed from the seller to Sedo. This means that the domain could not be transferred to your NameCheap account due to GoDaddy's stupid 60 day rule. The contact info for the whois had just changed from the seller's details to sedo's details meaning that godaddy would not allow the transfer to take place. This stupid rule has caused me many headaches and resulted in me stopping to use godaddy as the rule is ridiculous.
