Hello guys, I'd like to ask you a question. How can you determine something about the server just from seeing the subnet? Etc.: 94.249.100.93/32 How many IP adresses can this subnet have ? What else can you tell about it ? Any help appreciated, V
This one cannot have any subnets - /32 stands for subnet mask 255.255.255.255 - This subnet can only hold 1 host.
How did you come to such conclusion ? Could you explain a little? And what about the IPs' ? Thanks in advance V
I learned it in vocational college, although I have forgotten much about it and I am not good at explaining, but there are enough site around the web, that should clear this. Here is one http://www.techrepublic.com/article/ip-subnetting-made-easy/6089187 Code (markup): In this example, you can only have 1 IP and that's 94.249.100.93 itself
By checking the server ip address via Whois, you can determine the ip datacenter or the company to which it belongs. "How many IP adresses can this subnet have ?" There are different types of subnetworks, one can have 32 or 128 ips, the other can have 256 ips, it depends.
Only if this particular IP address is used online. If it isn't, you won't get any correct information.
