    Hi everyone,
I have just finished my website,

    http://www.clearyourskin.info

Which is a free weekly newsletter providing information information on helping people clear their skin from acne.

This is not one of those, miracle cure websites, but just an informative e-newsletter for those suffering from the condition.

I am trying to think of some ways to get people to become members.

    Where should I target?
    and what are some suggestions?

    thanks in advance,

    Tom

As your key target market is young people I would find places you will think they may go - music forums, game, sports forums maybe.

You could try writing a press release too and submitting it to someof the online press release sites

Maybe you could put some posters in schools (if they allow) or youth clubs.

TR just posted a great post. Also, Facebook.com has great advertising rates, that's a good site you might want to check out advertising on.

Put up some photos of celebrities with spotty faces and submit to digg, reddit and so on.

This will help in better conversion: get the opt-in form on the first screen. So that people can see the form before subscribing.

A good format that has worked for me is having no salesletter that persuades people to subscribe. Instead,

    1. Have a headline
    2. A picture of the newsletter on the left
    3. The opt-in form to the right of the picture
    4. FAQ
    5. The opt-in form again at the bottom of the page

My tests show that FAQ works better than a salesletter. More people read them and then subscribe. You may want to try it out too.

    For getting more visitors,

    1. PR
    2. Write articles for other health sites (articles written in case study format work very well)
    3. Start a contest - people who send in the before and after pictures with a story of how they solved their acne problems get a goodie

Get your website in front of your target market. Your target market should be whoever needs your info.

But it is not that simple... advertising on music sites just because teens hang out there is not going to bring you much luck.

Where do people with skin problems hang out on the Net? Forums? Groups?

Who are the top guys in the SERPS for skin problems? Maybe set up a deal with them... Network....

Also consider the longevity of your news letter.. eventually in 90% of us skin problems clear up... so you will have 90% opt out rates over time. ( just my 2 cents there will always be people who have skin problems all their life).

Just because teens with skin problems hang out in Music / Movie / Chat sites does not mean you will grow your newsletter there. When busy chatting to your friends / downloading music etc, the last thing on your mind is being reminded of your skin...

    just my 2 cents
