Hey all, I just recently started up a blog with a friend, www.randomnium.com . As the name suggests its a pretty random blog which talks about opinions, girls, just usual day-to-day stuff really. I was wondering what are some ways to promote the site to get some more visitors? I tried some directory submission and facebook, but those don't seem to be working. I also downloaded a number of SEO plugins and use tags and what not to try and optimise as much as I can. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Try article marketing. Since you're on a different niche targets, you could generate more and more articles as often and submitting them to article directories such as EzineArticles, GoArticles, ArticlesBase, etc will help you gather more traffic. They've got lots of categories where your article will fit as well. Another thing is to create profiles around other Web 2.0 networks/mini blogs such as Blogger, Squidoo, Hubpages, Quizilla, etc to create link wheels. For example, your Blogger page would be linking to your homepage then Squidoo page linking to Blogger page then Hubpages to Squidoo page and so on. That way, you could also drive your readers around your pages then linking them back to your website. Also, keep your keywords relevant according to every niche. Make use of long tail keywords (for example 'what do girls look for' instead of just hyperlinking 'girls'). Another thing that would help your replication is through Ping networks that'll submit your posts to social bookmarking and social networking sites such as Ping.fm and Posterous. Try these things and I'm sure you'll get ahead that easy.
Wow, this was greatly helpful Thank you so much! Quick question though, what did you mean with the Ping networks, how do i use them or where?
Additional, the content of the blog is important too. Try your best to arrange the articles in your blog in order with content. By the way, Ping is a computer network administration utility used to test whether a particular host is reachable across an Internet Protocol (IP) network and to measure the round-trip time for packets sent from the local host to a destination computer, including the local host's own interfaces.
Do you have any content that could possibly go viral? If yes, StumbleUpon advertising might be an option. It's not free but it's fairly cheap and if you get lucky it could go viral.
Write more articles, update content frequently, try social bookmarking your posts and pages, use yahoo answers, myspace, etc.
Find a competitive site and copy its strategy ( easy way ) or try to make your blog viral by using myspace, facebook etc.. You need good content though
Promoting your blog using social media is certainly a staple tactic for anyone wishing to build traffic to their blog/website.
post a cool video on youtube and link it to your blog. if it will be interesting enough you will get lot of traffic and then lots of links
Build a lot of back links. High PR back links will definitely help you. What we need is your keyword/s and URL/s to build back links. Kind regards, Yogesh
Ping is a social networking site like twitter where you can put tweets. But it's one of the simple method to submit your tweets in large number of social bookmarking sites at the same time. You have to make an account in ping. For this just write ping.fm.Then go to the dashboard and add more and more networks. Then after that you can ping tweets to large number of social networking sites.
Here is some of what I do: - ping.fm - stumble Upon - Digg - Delicious, - Twitter - Facebook - Make a email list and promote to it (this is powerful) - videos on youtube (brand it) Cheers, Mukul
Since your blog doesn't really have a target, I would suggest trying to get some decent followers on Twitter and friends on Facebook. Focus on your content, work on on page SEO and you'll start getting organic traffic in no time.
What are some tips for on-page SEO? and what are the best plugins to use?? Tried the twitter method, I also got some subscribers on RSS, how can I utilize that?
