Ideas On Monetizing Stock Price Forecasts?

    Hi, All:

I've joined a group that provides stock price forecasts on thousands of stocks on a daily basis, more than 6,000 in fact.

The forecasts are competitive and should do well, as we give not just the direction but also the magnitude of future price movement for each stock. The forecasts are generally reliable and useful, especially used with understanding.

I just wonder what's the best way to market and monetize the forecasts. Currently, when we provide about 12 free forecasts daily, we get about 120,000 hits a month.

Obviously, if we provide 120 free forecasts, the hits should increase proportionally. Of course each hit is not a unique visitor. We estimate that if we give all 6,000+ stock forecasts free and go solely on advertising revenues, the daily hits should increase by about 500 times, or 60 millions a month, roughly 2 million hits per day.

The closest stock price forecasting website doing this is TradingMarkets.com and their traffic went from thousands of visitors to about 750 thousand per month in a period of about one year, by our estimate.

TradingMarkets.Com just provides a number from 1 to 10 to rank a stock, but there is no indication of magnitude of future price movement. Whereas our forecasts always do. Also, they cover far fewer stocks than we do, and most of their stocks are in the mid-range number of 4 through 7, i.e. neither a buy nor a sell/short.

We like to improve on our forecasts (and they can be further improved) but more revenue will help towards that goal. Obviously improved accuracy from further R&D will in turn benefit those visitors and customers who use our forecasts.

We can charge for the forecasts or we can use advertisements, or a combination of both.

We like to automate things, and so we like to distribute the forecasts automatically over a score of stock-related domains we have, automatically every night. This is not being done yet.

Any suggestions or thoughts? Here is an example forecast on SCX. e.g. htt p://forecasts.com/?cat=1 The forecast says SCX is likely to go up by 20.4% in coming days.

The current site is very plain looking. We'll soon have a new website where registration gives you a set of points that you can spend on the latest forecasts, without cost or obligation. The good thing is that you're not limited to the dozen or so free stock forecasts, but all 6,000+ stock forecasts are available to you to pick and choose as you desire. Those who want more points can always go on a subscription. If you help out with brainstorming, ideas and suggestions or what not, I promise you'll get some extra free stock forecasts when the new site is launched. Just mention your name and mention you contributed to this thread. New website should launch on or about October 1, 2008.

Thanks for any thoughts on monitization, marketing and improvement.

    Regards,
    ProfitA
