Ideas = jack crap

I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this post. But I've come to the realization that ideas on their own, equal nothing! I'm king of ideas. I have at least a dozen "million dollar ideas" stuffed away. Am I a millionaire? Not even close. Am I making more than 10 dollars a year off the internet. Nope. Yet I read this forum, and various blogs by all the big dogs such as Jeremy Shoemaker, or Timothy Ferriss and so on and so on.

Bottom line is I spend a ton of time dreaming about the big leagues and zero time doing a damn thing about it! I've registered a couple dozen domains and never developed a single one of them!

I spend hours upon hours reading about Internet Marketing and yet I seem to be unwilling to pull the trigger and try anything. Anyone have any idea why I do this? I'm certain I'm not alone in this, the rediculous number of "How do I make a million dollars" posts is proof of that. Yet I'm no better with my refusal to take action.

What is the key to breaking the procrastination habit?

This is by far the biggest problem I've had with online business; actually getting started.

I too have a couple dozen "million dollar ideas" that if I had the bankroll and a staff of people to do the work for me I would actually probably be a billionaire right now.

Within the last few months I've managed to get mostly past this procrastination, and get some serious work done. The key is to pick 1 or 2 projects at the most, set yourself goals and deadlines, and just start working.

Every time you get the urge to start another project because you develop another business ides in your head, like I seem to do nearly everyday, just push it to the back of your mind and keep on working on your current project.

Just tell yourself that if you take on another project you will never succeed at all, that usually keeps me on track.

I'd say learn useful skills. My ideas remain ideas because I don't have the skills to put them into play myself, so need money to pay someone to do that!

 

my problem is coming up with the ideas!

if i ever get any i put alot of work into them... feel free to share your cast of ideas with me!

IT can be hard to do the work, but needs must, if you dont need or want the money which you must not - then dont do the work, other wise get busy

 

I have the same problem. Maybe we shouldn't jump blindly into this. I'll think about it for a while.

I spend endless nights working on my stuff because I can't dream and sit around doing nothing, it gives me energy to dream and looking forward to getting rich. If I do nothing I get depressed.

Write a blog, what can you loose, WHAT CAN YOU LOOSE, if you try. only time and a bit of money. In this life money doesn't run to you, you have to go for it or else you'll never have it.

Hey I've failed, but you know what I'm glad I at least tried, because now I know how to do better.
You got to be willing to get out of your comfort zone- get whipped, beaten and stripped and shun excuses and laziness. "Oh I can't, because I have...I don't want to work that hard...who ever makes it in this anyways...whats the point-too much work...". Quit limiteding yourself....say "I have no limits"

There two kinds of people

1. The ones who dream, try and try again
2. The ones who dream and let go of any opportunities of success because they don't recognize it due to their lack of action and experience.

 

I'm somewhat in the same rut. Ideas are plenty, but very few things becomes a reality. And when I do put things into motion, I would encounter obstacles or find it too difficult, so I would abandon that idea and start looking for another one...and the cycle continues.

I was thinking why this happens, and I come to the conclusion that it is because we unconsciously set ourselves up for failure. Why? So we will always be in the comfort zone. I don't know the answer to get out of it though other than keep plugging away.

 

The only way I stay working is my personal rule I apply to all websites I create. I only create, develop and think about one website at a time, and once I choose an idea I have to stick with it for at least 6 months. Otherwise I am just flip flopping between ideas and never getting anything done.

 

I really haven't read the responses to this thread because I'm short on time...but I will say this:

While reading stories of those who seem to have "made it" may be fun...at the end of the day it does not substitute for the hard work they all put in. We all want to believe it's super easy, but that's not the truth. The more you read, and research, the more you'll find ways to talk yourself out of an idea before you've even tried.

Such is the danger of the internet.

At the end of the day...you can watch the clouds roll by in the sky...or you can boil a pot of water and make your own damn cloud .

 

I've got the opposite problem.

I've got all the skills and initiative, but no ideas!
