Ideas for temporary sites.

So this is a bit of a general question, but I'm looking for some ideas. I'm in the process of setting up some websites for a few different niche markets that interest me and have the domains already. Now I'm in the process of building the sites, which may take anywhere from a month to a year (depending on when I get to them...not all of them are a high priority at the moment and are more just something to do for fun). I'm looking for ideas of how to monetize these domains in the meantime. Obviously I'm not looking to make big bucks of of them or spend a lot of time developing the site and content. There are a few requirements. One is that it employs no objectionable or "gray area" tactics. I don't want anything that will have a negative impact on the domain name. Two is that it's easy to set up and maintain. As these will be temporary placeholders I don't want to put tons of effort into it. And finally, preferably something with pre-made or easily generated content.

Now my goals for this will be to learn about different money making strategies on the intern so I'll probably try different things on different domains. For example even though I have no intention of doing affiliate marketing once these sites go live, I still would be interested in learning about how people do it..Also to make enough money to cover hosting costs! (which isn't much, I just want to set the bar low since I don't plan in making a huge time investment in these). So I'm looking for ideas of what to do that would fit these criteria, or recommendations for a book that will explain how to get something up and running quickly.

Another question I was wondering, is if the PR goes up on these domains (which there is nowhere to go but up!) would that be lost when I switch to the live sites or does it keep it's ranking when the site contents change?

your question is a bit long here you need to keep it simple -You need a formula rather than a product - you simply need to look at your niche market and find the keywords of products real visitors are looking for and fulfil them with optimised pages that offer the solution the visitor is looking for. If you don't want to sell other peoples products then develop your own (write about your niche) use adsense or adbrite if you have traffic making sure to adhere to SE guidlines. Build one good page monetize it then continue to build relevant pages in the same manner

Yes there will some change in the PR when you change the content of your site.
But don't worry about it,as long as the new content you added is unique, your PR will stay even goes up.

Sometimes its about knowing the rules so its good to read Google webmaster guidelines to make sure your site conforms. Build relevant links especially from PR3+ sites. This will help improve your ranking
