Let's say you want to update your blog with atleast one post daily. How much time do you spend thinking about what to write about and from where do you get ideas?
I think socail media can help , youtube to watch videos abt this topic, people around. Its can take 1 day or week ,depends on what you want to write if you know what excatly do u wamt to post then it will be faster. Good luck
Same Here, I am also looking for new topic ideas. I marked this thread so i can get back here to check others suggestions
Honestly one of your best options / tools for this is going to be google alerts. If you have a set of keywords and topics that you like to talk about (like new tech that comes out), then set yourself some alerts and google will let you know when anything new gets released. Do your reading, get all the info that you need and then write up a new article around that topic for your own blog. Check out google alerts here: https://www.google.com/alerts
It would usually take me 30 minutes to an hour from formulation of ideas to writing the article/post. If you know your niche well, creating content shouldn't be a problem. But if your blog is about something you don't know anything about, it would be better to outsource your content creation needs so you can have more time developing your monetization strategies for your blog.
I agree with Andrea. Depth of knowledge in your niche is key to idea generation. Ideas come to me all day long. Just looking at things around me as I go through my day stimulates the flow. My biggest problem is capturing ideas. I try to jot them down (or record them) as they come but sometimes I fail to do that - and I lose the ideas I don't make note of because I don't remember them later.
The other day on another thread we determined that you sometimes wear "Depends" adult diapers. Now here you are telling us that you are losing your memory. Joe, I ask this with all due respect...just how old are you anyway?
Obviously, it really depends on what your blog is about. If it has anything to do with business, I would be searching linkedin groups and following relevant companies on my newsfeed to see what the topics du jour are posted there. On the other hand, if your blog is more about people, hobbies, etc., I probably would be paying more attention to a Facebook or Twitter feed in which I am following relevant players who post about the topic of interest.
I didn't say I wore diapers actually. I did say that I sometimes experience certain "inconveniences" when I stand in front of a crowd to give a talk. But I do sometimes forget things. And I will be 70 on my next birthday - if I choose to accept it...
Accept it as it is the nature of things. Along with age comes life experience and wisdom. (also Polygrip, Viagra, orthopedic shoes etc.) *just joking
Fight, fight, fight like I do. Either that, or have a wonderful chocolate birthday cake and accept the inevitable (I do that, sometimes, too.)
The older one gets the closer you will get to the beautiful, nurturing light that awaits us all. Don't resist, rather embrace what awaits.
It can take weeks or months to write a single blog post depending on the research and test cases needed. If you can knock an article out quickly then you must be either very good at what you do or the article will be a yawn.
I do accept the experience and wisdom. Those I cherish. No use for Polygrip. Still got all my teeth and my dentist tells me my mouth is boring every time I see him. Viagra? No. I shy away from anything from the pharmaceuticals. I just don't believe those people have my best interests in mind. Orthopedic shoes? Where did that come from??? Actually, I'm in pretty good shape - for the shape I'm in... We can do it! Have you read The Psychology Influence of Persuasion by Robert B Cialdini? It's pretty boring and difficult to read in my opinion. He's supposed to be an expert in the field of persuasion. But his writing doesn't follow the "write at a 7th-grade level" advise that I learned when I studied copywriting. I agree that articles must be well researched but one's skill at the actual creation of the article also has a lot to do with how readers/viewers receive the piece.
It is interesting how this thread has included a brief excursion into aging. I am right now involved with a company that provides embedded, mobile, and cloud software development services. One of the interesting points of this market is that most embedded (i.e., firmware) developers are older and know little about mobile or web app development. Likewise, most mobile or web app developers are younger and know little about firmware development. This company talks about "bridging the age gap" amongst developers to be able to provide secure connectivity between IoT devices and mobile/web apps. This could be a potential topic to write about in your technical blog.
If you know your stuff I don't think this is necessarily the case. Although, as stated earlier, the more frequently you write articles the more boring the content potentially becomes.
That's what I mean by depletion. For me, boring content isn't worth to be written at all. How exactly are they going to do it?
Those who claim to know say that consistency is the key and the consistency should be a blog post a day or not less than once a week. I used to spout that myself. But I do wonder how if you post so often that your content becomes uninteresting, does that consistency keep people coming back when they're no longer entertained or educated by what you present to them.
Consistency works well if there are several people involved in the project. But if it's a personal blog consistency is a waste of time and effort. I am on my 6th year of design career. That's long enough to gain unique skills and experience. But I can't even imagine me writing about it every day. Because now as I think of it, I can summarize my career struggles maximum in 10 posts
