    Hi guys,

I am close to completing a new product. It is a spin on online advertising. It will cost a monthly fee of $100 to $1325 according to the package chosen. It is focused on small to medium businesses.

I would like to set up an affiliate network for it. the commission will be 50% of the first months fee. So, the affiliate will get between $50 and $665 according to the package. I think it is a hefty commission and there is a lot of potential.

I have all the back end covered (tracking affiliates, payout, ect).

I am looking for ideas and recommendations for getting an affiliate program off the ground. I have never started one before and i dont think that my normal seo tricks will be useful.

    Hi Nick,

If I was you I would search for around 300 sites that offer services related to your product or service, from these sites you should find the contact details of the actual owner, in other words not the helpdesk or enquiries contacts. (you may have to look ut their whois information to get it.

I would then contact them, and tell them all about your product/service and tell them that you will be launching shortly and that if they are interested to contact you.

If your product is of high quality, and your affiliate program is appealing (which it sounds like) then you should have no bother getting people to promote it for you. Clickbank is a great place to look for partners, many of the sellers on there will already have an established list. If you can afford around $100 you can go to odesk and hire someone to find the sites and contact details, just be sure to give them a good brief with as much information as possible.

Another thing you can do is post details of your offer in some of the many Joint Venture forums, this will definitely attract affiliates if your offer looks good.

One more thing to note, make sure you have a good affiliate/partner page - give as many graphics, text links and promotional emails. Make it really easy for potential partners to promote.

Hope this gives you a few ideas.
    Stephen.
