Ideas for increasing e-commere sales

    I am managing a website called www.vitality4life.co.uk.

    The overall objective is to increase the sales of the products on the UK market, does anyone have any feedback or ideas how i can do this, it currently gets about 100 unique hits a day.

    If anyone has ideas please let me know or if you offer a gaurenteed service to increase sales from the website with proven previous results please PM me and it could turn into work.

    couple things you can start with:

    - link building and strategic partnership with health websites.
    - create a health blog and write reviews.
    - social media with facebook, twitter, and more.
    - health contest if you have budget for it.
    - build a forum for people to share health tips.

    there is more. but its a good start. let me know if you need help.

    Your site is not bad looking. Try to get to the first page of google by doing some SEO link Building. If you have a good profit margin, try google adwords and see if will work. marketing is the key in any business. The more people see your site, the more sales you will get.

    I have noticed a strange and very strong "follower" dynamic among a lot of health food people -- they want a guru to follow. Become a U.K. guru, if not on alternative health then pick something smaller within it, like kanga water, probiotics, whatever -- something you sell. Then develop a strong community on facebook (not sure if facebook is as big within the U.K.), twitter, or wherever your U.K. users are hanging out. Be generous with your information, don't try to fool anyone. Cross-promote with other non-competing health people within your niche. Try to become a minor celebrity within your field. This is a very strong niche for social marketing, people like to be told how to take care of themselves by someone they perceive as wiser and better informed.

    one big issue most people get on ecommerce sites is attracting googles traffic.

    most e-commerce sites have product descriptions exactly same as 1000 other sites and that is all duplicate content actually. i worked on a clients site and re-wrote all product descriptions and the result in traffic/rankings/sales was just dramatic.

    The content is all copied over from other sites i think it is duplicated accross 5 - 6 other websites, they all have the same content e.g. on the .co.nl, .de, .fr etc.

    I have tried speeding up the site and we are running adwords.

    I have not run a link building campaign.

    so from this you think i should do the following?

    Add forums (i am not sure about this with it being an e-com only site)
    add a blog (do you think this can really help?)
    rewrite the content (how much of a difference do you think this could make? - it is rewritten on .de, .fr etc, and it hasnt made much of a difference at all)
    build health relationships with other UK websites (this is a great idea, we would hire someone for this service if they could do it really well!)

    P.S can anyone give me feedback on loading speed it is SUPER slow for me, any ideas?

    In addition, Another great idea monthly sales is to give a free gift. If you have access to different sources of wholesale products, you are sure to find a point of general interest that would not cut into your profits greatly. For example, if you sell women's clothes like you give a little heart charm free. If you sell automotive products, you can give an air freshener or a steering wheel cover.
