Ideas for Getting Free In-Content Links

    A little I know about the quality backlinks is that they should come from a good source, i.e. relevant content and should look natural...

    Once upon a time, blog contests were great for getting high quality in-content backlinks, but I see the idea faded....

    Just wondering if anyone has a better idea about building quality in-content backlinks.....

    Infographics are huge currently. Whatever your page's topic is, create an infographic with some nice info about the topic (there are web-templates, PSD-templates, or get somebody to do it for you e.g. odesk, freelance or fiverr)

    Now you have a great infographic about your topic, put your link in it, share it on infographic sites.

    Whenever somebody uses that infographic, you will get a free, contextual backlink.

    Create a legitimate, high-quality site with valuable content. If you do that, you'll get natural backlinks of all sorts.

    Yeah, sure... create a high-quality site and let it rot in the middle of nowhere, while I get some nice links and enjoy the traffic.

    Stop posting nonsense like: "post great content and people will link naturally to you"... They won't link naturally to you as they will never find your content.

    Well, JoeLumbergh posted a good answer to start with as you can do a lot with infographics.

    Also, there're lots of websites you can contribute on and I mean real highly-visited websites. So if you have a financial website then you could post on benzinga.com and lots of other similar websites. Do your research.

    very useful and a bit dangerous secret trick: write a good content on some controversial topic related to your industry and share it on twitter with proper hashtags.
    *be careful with the level of controversy!!!

    One strategy is to produce high quality content and then, at first, use PPC to drive traffic. Once people find the good content, then lots of natural backlinks will come. Or you could try to use a social sharing strategy in which, also, people will find your quality content.

    In some cases good content ends up on top lists, and therefore gets attention.

    However, always in all cases, the quality content has to be built first.

    I always hear that term "quality content" flying around...
    what do you call quality content? I have seen quality content, and
    my guess that type of content would cost a good amount of money...
    (and that would be just for one post) and probably would take a
    few hours to put it together because you have to research, write,
    find images, videos, etc. people often say use quality content, but
    the content you refer to is for the 1%...the 99% would not be able
    to afford "quality" content; however quality can be a broad term...

    Google doesn't like paid links, but still, a lot of the time, the rich can buy rankings cause they can buy content. So it's still a matter of who has the most cash.

    That would be true of about anything. For instance, champion sport teams can be created by simply buying the most talented players. :)

    However, it's always possible for a lone blogger to create great content without the help of money.

    A little I know about the quality backlink is that they should come from a good source. Backlinks are one of the best, if not the best, tool to help improve your website’s popularity and SEO ranking. Here are some link building techniques:
    * Create how-tos and tutorials
    * Externally hosted support content
    * Use social media and so on. May it helps you.

    Some squidoo and hubpage "how to" material would help, as well as "how to" material shared socially from your website.
