OK, I'm getting fed up with the lack of freedom on a number of social networks including one MySpace. My main issue is that these sites have either become havens for SPAM or that they've become corporate powerhouses allowing prime interests to manipulate and/or control content on the net. Given, many social networks are used for simple chit-chat between friends and family. But what about the artists and web entrepreneurs who drew interest to MySpace in the first place? So here's an idea and a possible solution: USER OWNED SOCIAL NETWORK. The social network is a pay in site. You pay to enter and set up a profile. From that point forward you own a share in the site. Your voice has value because you are a stakeholder. Part of expanding your network involves investment. On the flip side, all profit from ads etc is distributed to the users on a quarterly, bi-annual, or annual basis. Anyone can set up a profile and control a share. No-one can control the whole site and everyone, on aggregate, benefits. Thoughts???
Social Network are not used for simple chit-chat between friends and family but it is an alternative way to boost traffic for the site. As you said it is havens for SPAMMING but I think it is not. If you post your blog with new contents and with fresh idea, I think it is helpful for those who owned the site It is a nice idea to owned a SOCIAL NETWORK and it is the way of expanding networks and investment.
actually social bookmarking is about traffic and not social networking! but then this idea won't work, social networks are very hard to manage these day, they don't get popular easily
