so in the last month that this bumper sticker has been on the back of my car my direct traffic (people that type in your website into the address bar directly) has increased from about 50 in a day to about 200 a day. Plus it has been a good conversation starter.
We give away bumper stickers if users will send us a self address letter with stamp. Last year we put out around 20k+ stickers. It works well!
Get some magnetic signs for the sides of your truck or car. That way they are easier to see and you can take them off. About 8 years ago I had some signs made for the side of my truck. They are about 24 inches long and 18 inches tall. The letters are a little over 1 inch tall and easy to read when driving 70 mph down the highway. One day I was driving on HWY 105 going into conroe, texas. I looked over and this lady was writing down the information off my sign. But if your going to give them away, go with bumper stickers. My signs cost about $125 and that was 8 years ago.
What an awesome idea!! glad that you share it I was thinking of doing the same thing! now I am definitely going for it.
Cool idea! I think the same advertising campaign applies to big companies who use public transportation like buses to put their sites out in the open. It's very creative. Not sure about the cost though. It might be pricier.
it costs me 3$ to buy one of these...dont remember the place I got it from, but google search "custom bumper stickers" and there are a slew of sights you can choose from. I really do think that this is a VERY cost effective way to advertise.
That's pretty impressive l3vi. @OP You're delving into offline marketing.. If this works well for you, then post flyers at high traffic intersections in your town/city. It's basically the same effect, but now you're scaling up. (Check with the local policies to see if you need a permit to hang up signs, or just do it anyways and don't get caught )
Lol nice way of offline advertising... A lot of people forget about the power of offline advertisment. I promote a lot of projects this way by newspaper etc... and I get some good results Sometimes it's more productive that online marketing lol
lol Yes it does work! Supposedly vehicles get 600 views per mile. I read it somewhere while doing some research online. It kind of makes sense though. Think of just how many people you may pass during 1 days time.
The magnetic ones work great especially if you own a pickup truck with a tailgate. Also, if you want an easy way to get a bunch of bumper stickers just use Cafepress.
Remember that you can put your bumper sticker design on a site such as Cafepress, link to it, and let people pay to put the bumper sticker on their car. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a site someplace where you could prepay to have people get free stickers, but I don't know of one. On a related note, I'm preparing a site and I asked someone with drawing skills if she'd like to make some drawings for T-shirts for my site. She's thrilled. We don't know how many will sell, but it's cheap to try and she has a chance for her work to appear in random places.
