I signed up with CJ and got only one conversion. I was thinking about all those clicks on the banners which didn't convert and a thought came to my mind that these programs commission/conversion based are less than 80% fair to us and they know it very well, that is why they don't go for the PPC. Don't you guys think it with be better for all if the advertisers provide us with the software and the tools that will hold the transaction in "our" hands till it is completed? What I mean is ones somebody clicks on the publisher's banner they never leave the site from which they purchase the service or the product - the publisher's site. After the purchase is done the publisher immediately transfer his obligation to the advertiser. This won't work for all products and services but for some it will work. What is the publisher's benefit? All those cookies that we count on get TOO often removed by searchers and seems like we are doing free advertising. The game with the conversion would be only fair if their is a sure way once we refer a customer we get paid for it, and the cookies idea is going obsolete IMO with all those spy ware software. Just to share with you an idea. st12
It sounds like a good idea in theory, but would be difficult in practice. What's nice about most affiliate programs now is you just throw up a link and the work is done (albeit your work can be lost in the hand-off from time to time) but it's a lot less work on both ends the current way. Under your scheme, you coudl botch up the code locally and who knows how many sales that could cost you.
