As I'm thinking of revamping my site I'd appreciate some opinions on the current layout and design, page loading time etc

    The URL is www.mysteriouspeople.com

    Thanks a lot

It loads very slow over dial up. In fact I was think why do people post a URL for you to look at a blank blue screen. It said done way before site loaded.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I think it loads slowly because of the pictures - that's one of the reasons I'm thinking of revamping it.

Since the Google ads on the left look so much like the links, I think there is some danger of visitors thinking all the links in the left column are ads.

Do you resize the images and use compression software on the images? I usually use photoimpact to compress mine some times as much as 50%. Some images compress better than others.

Regarding the links looking like ads I will probably have the ads on their own on the left and have content in the middle and right sections.

Thanks for the suggestion concerning image software. I don't have any at the moment, is it possible to download some cheaply / for free?

I just did a search for image compression shareware and see some listed. Since I have not used can not recommend any. Who out threre can make a recommendation based on their own experiences?

the design and color's are not good. Black is not looking good with dark blue.

Thanks for the opinions, I'm glad you like the content. Perhaps I should put the ads on the right?

I like the colours although you could try to change the orange to something else and the content seems interesting, original (I've added it to my favourites and will have a look later on.
I think the ads are well placed as it's the first thing I clicked on! (the test) so it works!

Again, thanks a lot! Will look to change the orange perhaps to a different, less bright, shade.

I don't know... orange and black... halloween... seems to work for me. Maybe you should change the blue background to something a little more compatible with the orange.

The google site search background should look match the background instead of being black though. Either that or put a border around it.

Ad placement is great IMO. It's the first spot you look on a page. You did a good job of utilizing the area.

You have a large amount of spaces between written and permission in your copyright notice.

    I use photofiltre. www.photofiltre.com
Usage is simple and you can resample your image when performing resize or compression.

Thanks for feeeback and info. Have put the border around search box. Looking for another background colour to go with the orange. I will leave the adsens ads in this position for a week or so see how they go revenue-wise, then perhaps move them to the centre.

Hi brynrees, may be you will try to use dark blue instead of black, but a little bit darker than background

Orange and blue colours - very good together

Hi Webdeal. Well I experimented a bit losing the black and replacing it with dark blue but to be honest I still prefer the black (for now).

Page loads very fast. At the top I think you should put a background for the nav bar so it stands out more and it would look better.
