Recently i have been putting a lot of time into SEO. I have been revamping the web page to make it more and more SEO friendly, even though it was pretty well done to begin with as far as on page optimization goes. I have also been aggressively seeking high quality highly relevant IBLs. I am trying to figure out which is the result for the MASSIVE boost for keywords in Google. any thoughts are appreciated....
Congratulations on your progress! I dont think any of us, even Google, really know the answer for sure. In my experiences most of my keyword gains seem to have been related to on-site changes, although sometimes I create an article that perhaps makes gains from other sites linking to it. I'm always surprised at how often an article creates traffic unexpectedly. I am beginning to agree that the off the beaten path key phrases are worth pursuing. The experience has convinced me to spend as much time working on content as practical.
Seems like it also depends on the quality of links you're getting. A few high PR links may give you more of a boost than on-page SEO where a ton of crappy links might not.
the links were acquired mostly from high quality directories. Some were niche directories, while other were just regular ones. All of them had a high PR.
Just build backlinks and update site often and visitors will come. Without backlinks you are nowhere! When I build backlinks I don't look on PR, only look is this page relevant or not. Good luck!
In my experience, off-page factors are weighed MUCH more heavily than on-page factors with regard to ranking in the SERPs. Sam
