IBLs from PR0 sites

Do backlinks from PR 0 sites count at all?

My guess is that they do, but not very much. Is it worth building IBLs from these sites.

It seems to be a lot easier to get backlinks from PR0 sites than PR6+ ones. (my highest PR backlink is PR5 - I feel like that isn't very good - most are PR 0-3)

They'll count if the links aren't no-followed; however, they'll be very weak and you'll be helping THEM out far more than they'll be helping you out if you link back to them in return.

However, over time some of those sites will have their PageRank scores improve, and could possibly prove to be beneficial to you. Of course, they could also all tank like a bad movie at the box office leaving you with next to nothing as well.

Also remember that PageRank is based on PAGES, not sites. A site with a PR of 7 on its home page may agree to link back to you, but could put the link on a PR 1 page buried so deep in its Web site that it wouldn't even matter.

Yeah - I know that all backlinks count.

Dan - you brought up a good point that a PR0 site could potentially become a PR6+ site.

I'm not sure I follow you here - how can an IBL to my site help them out?

Sorry, thought you were linking back to the site (I've had a long day). I've edited the post to include the condition of linking back to the page in question.

Oh - gotcha. I try my best to avoid reciprocal links (I have VERY few on my site).

Anyway, thanks a lot for the help... you've brought up some points that I wouldn't have though about.

hey, as long as the site is relevant, why not? and as dan said, it might be a good investment for the future :)

That's not necessarily true. It'll just count more if it is related to your site than if it's not.
