    Well, this certainly smells of self-promotion (or friend-promotion), but the OP says it ain't so, so...

    Want my opinion on why it has escaped the PR penalty?

    It's not using a popular LD script (like PHPLD), has articles on the homepage, and the directory on an inner page.

    I know I speaketh blasphemy, but that's my opinion.

    Beyond that, I'm impressed with the design and layout. Better than 90%, maybe 99% or higher, of the other directories out there.
