I need some help in my SEO .. I was readying a free E-book on this. Should i upload my homepage in .txt format with my FTP for better ranking. Also.. The e-book also spoke adding creating content pages to my website. It did nt go into further details. what is that all about ? for anyone who understands.
Should i upload my homepage in .txt format with my FTP for better ranking. besides your html pages ? Could you please let me know the section of the book mentioning about it.. you can copy and paste here.. Thanks
Uploading HTML pages in text format is necessary. It will not help your SEO any, though. Add more pages... upload the same way (text). PS upload images in binary mode.
Quoted: Should i upload my homepage in .txt format with my FTP for better ranking. besides your html pages ? Yes thats what i mean.besides the html pages Yes i was informed that for better ranking its necessary to create content pages . pages aside from what i have in my domain already.. iam guessing they meant..creating a page with description and have that indexed than redirect to the another page.that information spoke about. I don't understand..is that true? Also that search engines don't look at meta tags, but on my website content itself??is that true.. for indexing
I'm also lost. Let me try to clear things up. In FTP software you could have an option to upload in txt (ascii) mode and binary mode. If you are asking about the the mode to choose when uploading the files... then yes, txt(ascii) mode will be the best for .html .php .asp type. Why? Because some servers won't give the correct output if you upload it with binary mode. If you have this "problematic" server, then when SE try to crawl your pages it will get "strange" text instead of your files. However, as far as I know, nowadays almost all (even the free and open source) FTP software is smart enough to automatically determine the upload mode. Choose automatic and you're done. Those advices from the ebook are from the stone age. If you are talking about uploading a separate .txt file that contains only the content of your page along with the .html files... then it may help a tiny bit for your seo, but imo, it doesn't justify the effort and disk space you are wasting. Content page means a page that has many text content compared to the html codes, images, flash, etc. An article or blog with an average 500 words is considered as content page.
