When I started as a full time content writer I made almost no money. After I failed repeatedly I took a break and tried to figure out what I was doing wrong. I did. Now, $4,000 a month is not tough...but my question is: Can I do more? The bottom line is that there are a limited amount of hours in the day. But I think I have a solution...shift from being primarily a writer to being an editor and a manager. Arbitrage, sub-contracting, whatever you wish to call it. My speculation is that there is NO TOP on what you can actually pull in if you do this right. Thought?
And now you are selling an overpriced (31 pages for $10) E-book to let the world know how you did it? It is impressive though, how did you manage to make so much with Fiverr? I haven't used it but a quick look shows that jobs are only $5 each, right?
I will give away a spoiler from my "overpriced" eBook. The way I earn $1,000 a month at Fiverr or much more is that I changed the way I operate on Fiverr and focus on getting and keeping customers. If you are just doing $5 gigs, making any serious money is tough. But when you begin to think of Fiverr as a way to gain long-term clients that are repeat business, and you do good work, over-deliver, and gain a Level 2 rating or higher (I am level 2), that means you can offer enhancements and your gigs are going for $10 or $20 or even more. The bottom line is this: If you earn $33 a day average on Fiverr you make $1,000 a month. Because the gigs I now do are usually for $10 - $20 and not $5 (although that is the way many started), I easily do $33 a day, and generally much more. And, some of what I do is "arbitrage" now. I sensed a cynicism in your post, but I am happy with making $1-4,000 a month doing Fiverr and a few other contract writing gigs. I will say that if you want, I will give you a copy of my eBook for free and you can read it and see what you think. If learn something, then I would ask that you write a review. If not, if you think it's BS, then I think you should come back here and say so. I make this offer because I really believe in what I am doing and that I can show others how to do it. ~Lynn
The reason I said it was overpriced is because I was comparing it to the thousands of other business self-help books there are out there which you can get online or in your local book store. I wouldn't mind writing a review for you if you'd like, I'm sure there is something I could take from it but my criticism was mostly because there are so many people offering the same thing as you.
My thoughts on the E-book: This book will serve as a good inspiration to anyone aspiring to make a living on the web and I liked the fact that the author doesn't make any overly unbelievable claims or attempt to cover up the fact that like any other profession if you wish to be sucessful it requires some hard work. The writing style is generally easy to read and straight to the point. There is also some helpful pointers for people who haven't quite mastered their writing skills. However in future revisions I would suggest cutting out some of the repition and avoid using bullets in cases where each one is many sentences long and divide up some of the longer lists. Also to reach out to a broader audience perhaps you could explain how your lessons can be applied to other professions or websites (besides Fiverr maybe).
the best way to earn more money is to find away out, how? the finally answer is outsourse you need to make use other people time and energy
I agree with you Maschit.. You can be doing everything yourself as a one man show.. It's ridiculous and you will look like a lifeless guy.. Outsourcing is very important if you're to build a successful online business!!
Only if you can find the right people, though. The scariest thing about outsourcing is that the work someone else does is delivered to the client as your work so if they make a mistake then that mistake is yours.
to be success, you and I need to have a plan and outsource some area of the work. this can take away painful experience, success people job is plan and do what able to earn he/she more money worth the time.
I agree with you, that is the bad experience which need to know-how to avoid it. That why you and I need exactly exactly know where to find people, how to test them, what question to ask, timeline and etc.
The problem is that you can't really avoid it. It doesn't matter where you get people from because there is always a chance that the quality they give you is lower than they normally do (i.e. if they have a bad day). I'm more likely to turn jobs down than outsource them just because I'm so worried that they'll make me look bad. It costs money to say "no" to a job but at least I keep my reputation!
It's very much possible to make $4000 per month. You just need to know where to write. Even Fiverr can provide that kind of income
I guess the aim is to get to a point where you are essentially project managing. Outsource your writing and other day to day task while trying your best to grow your brand.
I would love to get to the point where I can outsourcing. I still have a bit of a control freak mentality, which I am working on losing. But, I guess as the OP said, you would focus your time on proofing and editing - that's the most control freakish part for me. Hmm, I think I've just talking myself into a solution.
I have a hard time with the idea of outsourcing my work because I am such a perfectionist. But many people are successful at it. You REALLY need to screen your writers before you depend on them for an assignment because it sounds like you have spent a lot of time building your reputation- to lose it suddenly would be a nightmare! Have you considered starting a PLR site or publishing regularly on Kindle? I have found it to be easier to set up alternative income that I can count on instead of always writing for others with my ghostwriting business, although that is where I focus first. I did a TON of research before getting into other sources of income and can recommend some good sources if you decide to try. Good luck! And congratulations on building such a successful business!
