    Hi everyone,

I'm planning to set up my own web hosting services.
But I'm really new in this.
In fact, I know nothing about being my own web host.

And after my first thread here, and the replies I have gotten.
I've chosen Hostgator Resellers because of their reliability.
Although a pit pricey, I would want my clients to have good stuff.

    I don't have a customer base yet.
But I have 1 client ready to move their site to me,
I just wonder, if others charge for helping their clients move their site? Because I do not intend to charge my clients in future.

Does moving site means, backing up files in their old host and uploading all files onto my client's new FTP which i provide for them.

    And the most important question
What happens to the email address that have been set up previously?
Like, inquiry @ domain. com has been set up and is running with the old hosting company now.

How do i bring inquiry @ domain. com over to my host?

Is there a guide to bring the email address over and have it work the same way it has been, with the previous host.

I know I shouldn't be doing the web hosting business since I don't know much but I'm learning everything I can now to get me prepared for it, so please give me some help and advice.

    Very much appreciated.
    Thanks !
    :]

Generally web hosts do not charge for helping new clients move their websites over to their web hosting because in the long run they make money from them.

You will need to move entire websites, meaning database information as well. This can be done through cpanel.

I'm unsure on the emails, haven't ran into that one. You may have to recreate them through cpanel.

Don't worry about the knowledge aspect, anyone in the hosting business at times has had to research stuff. You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.

Hosting can be a very tricky thing to get into, I hope you are very experienced and talented. But, from my knowledge and experience great hosting companies make a ton of money and have tons of high quality partners and affiliates!

No charge as the industrial standard. In fact they give bonus to client such as 6 month free if come from other host.

Yes,but not limited to that coz you need to take into account the backup-ing the database.
