    Is it any free s/f I will start instantly only purchasing hosting and domain.

    How many space needed?

    Windows hosting is good?

    most of the popular scripts require php & mysql, i favour linux servers, but a windows server should run them too.

    the popular blog script of the moment is wordpress (its free & open-source), which can be self hosted or you can get a free one @ wordpress.com. also blogger is popular for a free blog.

    blogs dont take up much space so minimal hosting space should be required to get you started.

    Well if you want to do it for free, you can use blogger or wordpress. They're really good and easy to navigate. Windows is ok. Space needed? Well they got a heap, so you won't have to worry about it.
