The online gaming market is becoming big on the Internet, and though I don't have the resources to create a high end online game, I'm thinking of starting with a basic online game that will give me the resources to move onto bigger and better things.

Having said that, I want to get the opinions and thoughts of gamers on this forum. The type of online game I want to create is a side scrolling shooter. It is simple to design, and easy to program. Most importantly its fun. Please post in this thread and give me your thoughts on the following possibilities:

    1. Would you rather play a side scrolling shooting game that is like Ikaruga http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikaruga, where you move from the bottom to the top of the screen, or would you rather have a game like Einhander http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einhander, where you go from the left side of the screen to the right?

    2. Would you rather the side scrolling game be 3D like Einhander, or high end 2D graphics like Ikaruga?

    3. Many side scrolling shooters, and online games in general, lack detailed storylines Would you enjoy a side scrolling shooter with a powerful plot, or an online game where you could play Quests, each quest having a different storyline?

    4. Would you play an online side scrolling shooter that gives you access to multiple weapons and vehicles, vehicles like mechs for land, hightech flying craft, and water vehicles?

    5. As far as artistic style, would you prefer a more Anime style for a side scrolling shooter, or would you rather use a more fantasy style like Luis Royo:Luis Royo

    6. What type of music would you like for an online side scrolling shooter? Would you like only techno/trance, or would you like heavy metal? A combination perhaps?

    7. If such a game were created, how much would you be willing to pay per month? Or, would you rather not pay a monthly fee, download and play the basic game for free, and then pay set amounts of money for additional Quest, weapons, vehicles, etc?

Your answers to these questions would be very helpful. Also, please post any suggestions you have.

Only post here if you like online games, and want to offer useful suggestions
