I had hernia surgery in September - it wasn't much fun, but other than a massive scar (which still hurts!), I'm pretty much recovered. But one very weird thing that I've noticed since I "went under", is that I can no longer wear a watch! Before my surgery I couldn't leave the house without my watch, I used to actually stand at my door and check for "watch, phone, keys" - but now it just feels weird and wrong. I haven't put my watch on ONCE, since I came out of hospital. WTF!? Anyone else have weird post surgery/anaesthetic experiences like this?
Ive not heard of that before but i did watch a program about a year ago were patients that had heart transplants eventually inherited the personality of the donor, not just a slight change but rather significant transformation of personality mirroring the donors and verified with the families of either side. Have you tried putting your watch on yet? maybe you have had an OBE and somehow your subconsciousness is recognising time and any relation to it as insigificant resulting in no desire to aknowledge it.
My watch is exactly where I left it when I went in for surgery. I don't think I've touched it since I came home, and I'm kind of reluctant to. It's eerie, and I'm kinda digging the eerieness of it all. I've worn a watch EVERYDAY since I was in primary school. To be honest, the more I think about it, the more uneasy I feel about even picking up my watch from where I left it. Any psychologists in da house?
You should pick it up before it becomes a phobia or something, try doing it now, maybe the feeling will disappear. Let us know if times stops still or something of course we'll have to wait until you start time again, maybe you have powers now.
For a start, I'd break my 4+ month record of not wearing a watch, and could risk destroying the space-time continuum.
maybe its connected to CERN that giant thingy ma jig in switzerland i think, when they fire up that later this year you may pick up your watch at the same time and open up a portal. Hey as long as it dont affect my serps or pr i dont mind, hehe
It's not like it's that important, you have other method to look at the time (ie : the clock on the wall, the alarm, other's watch...) If you worried so much you can consult a doctor, they might have different opinion...
It could just be a subconscious association that is bugging you. Did you develop your hernia while doing physical labor (when you were probably wearing your watch since "worn a watch EVERYDAY since...primary school")? Your mind could have associated the watch with the labor which caused the pain from the hernia and surgery. I agree with pipes, try to wear it again. Pick a day when you are going to be basically sedentary and wear it to see if you can "re-train" yourself into associating the watch with normal life. As for if anyone has had a similar experience under general anesthesia, I have, though not to this degree. While being put under for a tonsillectomy a few years ago I started having vivid dreams before the anesthesia started to work completely. In one, I fell down a huge set of starts that exist near a library downtown (the staff heard me mumbling about it and a even "spasmed" like I was falling), and avoided those stairs for a few months afterward even though I didn't remember the dream. Try to cope as best as possible and if you can't seem to fix it then you can just look at wall clocks or cell phones for the time. Hope this helps.
It's a very strange situation, I wasn't dealing with something like this, but I think something happened back then try a psiho-analyst's opinion
Just start wearing it again. I think the problem is that you haven't worn it. If your skin itched when you put it on or you got a rash, that would be different., but I think it's just because you haven't worn it since then.
at least you did not wake up during your surgery. when i had my left elbow surgery i woke up half way through it. i could see the doctors and hear the drill and everything. talk about weird. never again will have another surgery unless it is a have to case. yuk
Check the wound and make sure the doc didn't lose his in you. Then grab your watch and chuck it out the window. See if you miss it. Then go see someone and see if you haven't gotten a post hypnotic suggestion implanted while under.
