After the failure to interest anyone in my last post about this, I have decided to add a twist, I will pay anyone who will test my new software $10. Here is the deal I am offering, I will pay you $5 for downloading and installing the software (and creating a user account), and once you have used it for a few hours, send me some ideas and feedback about it, as well as filling in my short questionaire. Once you have done that I will pay you the other $5. Easy money right! One more thing, I would like you to post here first before you start demanding money, I want to see who is actually going to be reviewing my software. If I think you are trustworthy, I will pay you the money. I am willing to spend $100, so 10 testers. One more thing, this is not a scam. This is actually my university thesis and I really need to testers for it, and I thought I might as well spend some money on it. Anyway, I would much appreciate it if some people would test it! URL is: www.annotatetheweb.com Pete
Get me in, I am interested ! Can you also provide us more details other than stating it as your University Project ? Cheers, Dreamchaser
Your extension does install from the web. You just need to allow software to be installed from your URL! I'll give it a go in a bit.
Ok sure. It is a firefox extension, which you can use to add annotations/comments to any website that you visit, while browsing, and you can also view annotations that other users have written already. Annotations can be public or private, so if you just want to write a reminder for yourself then you can do that. As well as this, you can highlight text in the browsing window, and that highlight will then be saved along with the annotation, and displayed when the annotation is displayed (in a colour coded way), see the screenshots on the website for more details. The information stored in the database is only the comments, and the username and password you signed up with. (a later addition to the project might be an alexa style ranking system, this means that any websites you visit will be monitored (this is currently not implemented)).
FAQ page not ready? Its a good plugin tools for firefox, which for those who have bookmark certain website and put some annotation notes beside it. Cool idea.
but I do care about money, DSM56, I am testing your FF ext, and I request you to donate the $10 to dominic's charity.
sure.. I will play around with it Edit: sorry, ain't working for me. anyway, you may fix the faq.html link on your site
If you want me to send you or a charity money post the paypal address here, I will send the money, up to $100. If you have any errors please post them here or PM me. Cheers, Pete
Oh, one important thing. Once you have installed it, you can start it by right clicking on the page and clicking on annotate it. I should really have a user manual, sorry... Pete
