I will be getting loads of hits.. but..

Dont ask why and how as i wont say .. but i will be getting alot of hits to a new website of mine, it provides a free service, but the site will be completely new, so no profiles etc. What do you suggest? Getting someone to make hundreds of fake accounts to get sign ups? Because i think if i leave the user table blank, no one will sign up atall. But what do you think

 

You could probably pay people to make profiles, much like you can pay people to post on new forums. Or better yet, you could get DP members to make profiles in exchange for links (hint hint).

Maybe you can try to make people signup *before* you show them how many members/profiles you currently have

Just an idea as i've seen many startup dating sites (to name an industry) do this

Well i myself don't have a dating site but i saw webmasters do this.
What they do is make a nice landing page where you send all the traffic from PPC or other advertising campaign to.
On that page they add few pics of sexy women and/or guys and then next to it they place the signup form.
With a few catchy headlines like: 'signup today and start dating other members'

Something like that
Or you can give them access to the full site but if they wanna see profiles or enlarge pics or they click on a member's nickname you display a message like 'this feature is only available for registered users'

I hear plentyoffish scraped sites and put other peoples dating profile on his site. I dont know how ethical this is. But its an idea.
