When I first started my website I wasted several thousand dollars on PPC advertising. The thing about PPC is that it is not a permanent link and it disapears once your money does. I believe that PPC should only be used by a seasoned veteran with a positive cash flow site. Make sure your product sells then use PPC as a small tool help increase traffic. Always be sure to keep tight reigns on your campaigns!!
You went to Google Casino and played the game and lost your money. Not much different than gambling in a regular casino..... Next time hire a professional who could save your money from paying Googlers mortgages.
A new/non profit blog should never spend money on ppc. First of all you should earn from your site. Then from your earnings, you can spend 20-30%, not more than that.
Paid advertising doesn't work???? It has for centuries....at least till you arrived.... PPC is perfect for new business, what is not is, thinking one understands how to do marketing, and then finding they lost their money and more....
With PPC, as with any other form of advertising, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. There are a lot of good posts on the right way here at DP. One thing is certain, complaining about it doesn't improve the situation. An old advertising rule is to keep a close watch on your ROI. Unless you're selling items that make several thousand per sale there is no way you should ever spend "thousands" on PPC.
hmm, well your experience might have saved me from a similar experience. Althoguh i'm not sure i'd shell out $1000 for PPC advertising before I saw some results.
Thats the single reason I posted this. A word of caution more than anything. I think my post was completely fair as to say nothing more than keep a look out. I was mistaken on how to use the PPC tool and i wish I had this board and the knowledge i have now before I created my google adsense account.
Hi, what were you using PPC for? What is your website? Maybe I can help you out, point some things out.
I find this hard to believe. They've got everything set up on Adwords to keep you from overspending...
Don't feel too bad about it. The big winner with Adwords is Google. You hear a lot from people claiming how much they are making with Adwords but the reality is that Google takes about 2/3 of everything they make.
I think you need to have a squeeze page as your landing page to capture prospect's name & email adress when using PPC advertising. Because once the visitors leaved your site without buying, at least you've got their email to follow up later..
This bit is a little worrying The thing about PPC is that it is not a permanent link and it disapears once your money does. Because it suggests that you had a basic misunderstanding of what PPC was when you started. It's advertising, it's not link building. Two very different things.
Well.. the so called PPC gurus have spoiled it for everyone by driving up the cost of keywords to rediculous levels. $40 or more per click is just killing the concept for the little guy. This is what Google say: Is that really applicable these days?. I don't think so! It's directly aimed at the small advertiser who doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell of getting any traffic. J
Next time make sure you are clear on what Google ppc advertising is and make sure you have a website where you have products or services that are there to be able to give you a return from your advertising investment. Other than that, good luck..
I think PPC is the best way to get affiliate and product selling. However, you shall first study on the conversion before you spend much money on it.
