Is he running away? Did the big G kick him out? What's up with all the shaking up that's going on? https://www.seroundtable.com/google-matt-cutts-video-leave-19405.html Does anyone know? PS Sorry for all the redundant question marks.
I was heavily involved with a company last year that offered specialized sales/marketing consulting services to very large technology companies. Clients were companies like HP, Dell, Oracle, etc. We were pitching to two different groups in Google. Met with them in their Silicon Valley offices. My impression of these folks was that they were young, bright people but a bit over their head in what they were charged with doing. It's just an anecdote, of course, but if the whole company middle management team is staffed that way, it can fall apart at a certain point of growth and expansion. Not sure why Cutts is leaving, though he does not seem particularly bitter about it. He may be tired and looking to do something else, which could be writing poetry by the side of a lake given his wealth.
