Other clicks in that campaign have been exceeding my max cpc as well. Does this happen to more people?
Contact AdWords support. If it's a legit mistake you'll get a refund. I've never had that happen in the entire time I've been working with AdWords. One time I thought it happened but after I looked a little deeper I realized I set the max bid at $50.00 instead of $0.50
Yes, I've done that, asked for a refund. I paused my campaign now, pending their response. I hope they'll answer me before they go home for the weekend (which would be about now if my mail has been directed to an office in my timezone), because I keep losing more income as long as that campaign is paused.
One time they charged few times more than my daily budget and they did not refund any money. Claimed that they go by monthly max. Would like to know the result. Thanks
Your issue is unrelated to the original posters issue. He was charged more per click. What happened to you (daily budget) is normal and you should not expect a refund. See: Why am I being charged more than my daily budget on some days?
update: It was my own stupid fault after all. I got a quick response from adwords support pointing out that all of the adgroups' max cpc was indeed €0.60, but on some individual keywords I had accidently changed it to €46 (should have been 0.46)...
I won't tell you that because I want to protect my niche (I have very little competition now and I like to keep it that way). It's a very high converting keyword (like 1:4), but when a click converts I can't make more than about €10. So €15 for one click is just insane.
You can set your MAX at any amount but if you set it auto bid and choose one of the two options, you are in trouble. The Max doesn't apply...
of course i was just wondering a keyword for 15 euros is a lot of money but as you siad is its a niche that coverts thats great then!
