I Want YOUR Input!

I am a freelance photographer, cinematographer, director and editor. Recently I have found a desire to start shooting some stock photography for other people to use. So, I thought what better way to decide what to shoot than to directly ask some of the people who might buy or find use for them!

My questions to all of you who are actively looking for photos to use - Are there any types of objects or items (non-vulgar) that you have a hard time finding photographs of? Are there any items or objects that you'd like to see more photos of (maybe from a different perspective)?

For all of you who have no trouble finding the photos you're looking for and actively buy on a regular basis - How much are you willing to pay for the photos you want to use and what ultimately determines why you pay the price you did/do?

Lastly, for all of the people who only use free royalty free stock photos - I understand that budget may be a huge factor but what would it ultimately take for you to pull out the plastic (so to speak) and buy a stock photograph? I don't mean this sarcastically - I would really like to know!

I do realize the answers to these questions may be common sense to some people here - I also realize that the answers to these questions may vary from project to project for most of you but, as much as I think I may know... There's always more to learn! I would like a better understanding on what the actual CONSUMERS views are on what photographs they will and will not buy and why.

I am looking to build a nice collection of stock photographs to sell - Your input would be much appreciated and you may just find something you like as a result of your feedback!

Typically, photographs of everyday objects such as stationary, cutlery etc on a nice clean background, ready to be masks is great, maybe even on blue and green screens.

Retro objects are always good finds, eg Old skool radios, blenders.

Web use - up to $2 per photo
Print use - up to $20 per photo.

Quality does play an important part, the photos must be clean and well exposed so I can easily tweak the saturation and colors in PS if I need to adapt the photo to my own design. Shadows on objects should be kept at a minimal again for easy cropping.

    hope that helps.
