do not guarantee but estimate and analyse what it would take to get the rankings you desire by analysing others in the same serps - then make a sound marketing plan and on-site strategy - then estimate the amount of hours it would take to achieve each part and any outsourced cost if that is applicable to you( i only hire intern fulltime as i cant stand unreliability of freelancers) then only you can make a quote AND lay out your detailed plan in front of your client and he willA see where your coming from B will see your credence and plot of thought and strategy this will give confidence and ...sales and much less if not none at all ..no dissapointment

There are alot of SEO techniques out there that are known by the general web guru population, like link building. However, these things are not always easy and if you develop good relationships with plenty of webmasters in alot of different niches then your ability to build quality links is greatly enhanced. You can work as a middleman selling the links at a mark-up for your service. For example, you may have some webmaster buddies who have a couple of PR6 sites and would accept $250/month for one way links on their sites, you could then sell these links to clients for say $300/month. That to me would be a good way to get started if you dont know much about the industry.
