Hi guys, I've been a blogging for more than a year, and with the help of DP I've become a sort of expert (forgive my modesty) at all things Blogger - and things like seo, ad placement etc are at the back of my hand...having done a few blog directory submissions for some members of DP myself.

Now listening to many suggestions, I'm planning to start a new blog - a wordpress hosted blog in fact. Now the problem is, I've never had a paid hosting before, and though I'm aware of terms like Cpanel, MySQL, Fantastico PHP etc
    I never really used them.

So if there's anyone at DP who like me shifted from blogger to paid wordpress hosting, could you please tell me how you went about it. And where can I get a good tutorial on such things?

I suggest getting the latest version of wordpress and not using Fantastico. It is very easy to install with the provided directions.

I know that the most current version does have the ability to import blogger posts. good luck...

    "Cpanel, MySQL, Fantastico PHP etc"

I would say go with a company that has CPanel. I have used CPanel for years now and love it. It has a whole back door that you can log into and manage everything from MySQL databases to email accounts. This is definitely a must!

I agree the Cpanel is the best.

I recently started a new host account and found the controls badly laid out and hard to use.
