There's a difference between hard drives and SD cards, and between deleting files and formatting. If he formatted the SD card, there's no data to get back any more.

 

You can recover data in both formatted and deleted cases and both from memory card and hard drive using the same software as memory cards also use the same format as the hard drive

 

sudhirrawat, "deleted" data isn't deleted, it's just marked for deletion. When you format an SD card, you reset all the cells in the card - there's no data to recover. It's not even like a magnetic drive, where there's residual magnetism from the old data (even though it's usually more expensive to recover it than the data is worth). Each bit is either on or off in a card - there's no "residual state".

Recovering a "formatted" drive is only possible if it was quick formatted or safe formatted (the actual data wasn't erased). If every track on a magnetic drive, or every cell in a memory card, was reset (normal formatting), there's no way to recover anything.
