I want to mirror my site

    I need to upgrade my cms but want test the upgrades on a mirror site. This way I can work out the bugs before upgrading the real site. I'd do this on a different domain, would this hurt me in search engines. Should I put <META name="ROBOTS" content="NOINDEX,NOFOLLOW"> in meta tags? Please advise.

    Would you even need a domain name for testing? I might put site in password protected directory ...

    you can test out the thing live on the website also.It will not affect any search engine ranking just make sure that withing 24-48 hours testing is over.
