I want to make a marketing page for my site, with a different domain. Site A would advertise for site B, and send users to site B. That way I could track it through Google Analytics, who comes from that particular marketing campaign. What would be the best way of doing this? A static HTML page, with different links to describe different things, like a site tour, or a dynamic, flashy Flash or PHP page, with user reviews and whatnot? The site is similar to a social networking site.
I am not sure but it sounds like you may be describing a doorway page and I think they are frowned upon by the search engines, maybe someone with some additional knowledge can confirm this.
Not quite a doorway, per say. The official site would be reachable by siteb.com, but the advertisments would say sitea.com, and sitea.com would link to siteb.com, to see how many people use the advertisments.
I do not fully understand the statement. More detail please? Maybe you can create a site map for all your domains. Or you can create a domain and put all the banners and interlink them together. Note that text link is good for SEO but graphic is good to attract more attention from visitors.
Okay, right now I have site B. It is running great, but I want more users, so I start advertising. Site B is a closed site, where you have to register to see the content. Most people will not want to register if they don't know what the site is about, so they just leave. Rather than putting up an advertisment for the site on the site itself to get people interested, I would be putting up another site, site A, that would be linked in the advertisments. People would visit the site, see the advertisments, and visit site B knowing what site B was all about. Just an advertisment page. Using Google Analytics, I could see how effective that page is, seeing how many people came from that page.
